It started in a sunroom.
JJ's Place began the way the best things do — with a dream and a little bit of "we can figure this out." Janice, the experienced baker and mastermind, teamed up with Andrew, took evening classes at USC, found an investor, drove all the way to Chicago for the right equipment, and set up shop in an improvised sunroom kitchen.
When Soda City Market said the dessert slots were full but they'd take a bread baker, they said yes — with about two bread recipes to their name — and figured out the rest fast. "Soda City turned out to be our bigger break," and a loyal following lined up every Saturday morning.
Today we have our own home on Meeting Street in West Columbia — a former house Andrew and his brother remodeled from the ground up, now filled top to bottom with the smell of fresh bread.
